Board Certified
Board certification is the highest level of recognition given by The Florida Bar for competency and experience within an area of law. It is intended to provide consumers with assurance in the selection of legal counsel. According to The Florida Bar, board certified attorneys are “legal experts dedicated to professional excellence.”
Ann Bittinger is board certified in health law. As a certified attorney, The Florida Bar allows her to call herself a “specialist” or “expert” in the subject matter.
To become a certified specialist, a lawyer must:
be an active member in good standing of The Florida Bar
- have practiced law for a minimum of 5 years
- pass a written examination in the specialty area
- complete approved legal education programs
- demonstrate substantial experience in the specialty area
- be favorably evaluated as to ability and experience in the specialty field by judges and other lawyers
- exhibit outstanding character, ethics and a reputation for professionalism
“Board certification is synonymous with the terms ’specialist’ and ‘expert’ for good reason. The program maintains high standards for experience and integrity to help the public identify lawyers who strive for excellence.”
– Past Florida Bar President Henry M. Coxe, III.
